China regained the Blind Football Asian Championships title following a 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Iran in the final, which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 17 December.

Meng Liu and Jiabin Zhang scored the goals from free kicks to give China their fifth continental title as they had previously been crowned champions at Seoul 2007, Tokyo 2009, Sendai 2011 and Beijing 2013.

China ended the competition unbeaten as they also defeated Thailand and Japan in the group-stage and South Korea in the semi-finals.

Thailand caused a major upset by achieving a 2-0 triumph over South Korea to complete the podium and win their first medal at an Asian Championships. Japan overcame hosts Malaysia 2-1 and finished in fifth place.

Two years ago, Iran had reached the top of the podium in Tokyo, Japan, after beating China 1-0 on penalties following a scoreless draw. Japan was the inaugural winner of the regional competition in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, in 2005.
